Font FAQ
How do I use the fonts?
First, be sure you have downloaded and installed them correctly by carefully following these directions. Then they will show up in the font drop down box of your favorite program– like Word or Photoshop.
You can also use the fonts on your Blogger/Blogspot blog!! Here’s how.
I followed the directions but it’s still not working.
Sorry… I’m afraid I can’t help you. I can assure you that when correctly installed, the fonts do work in all programs on Mac OSX, Windows XP and Windows Vista. But if it’s not working for you, it’s likely a problem with your computer or operating system and without seeing your computer in person, there’s really no way for me to know what the problem could be. If you are receiving a specific error message, you can try typing the exact message you get into Google. You can also post your question in a tech support forum.
When I try to use a font, the top and bottom are being cut off.
You have an old version of the font. Please delete that font and download the newest version from my webpage. All the Fonts for Peas and Free Scrapbook Fonts have now been updated and should no longer be cut off.
What program do you use to make fonts?
How did the “Fonts for Peas” get their name?
I have always, always, always *loooooooooved* handwriting and handwriting fonts. I remember one of the first computer discs I ever bought was a disc of 300 handwriting fonts. It was $20 and back then, to an 11 year old, that was a TON of money! LOL. So anyway, when I first started learning how to make fonts, I needed practice and of course I wanted to make handwriting fonts. I made one from everyone I knew in person that I could get to write down their alphabet for me– and I still wanted more!
So I posted on the message board Two Peas in a Bucket– I knew I’d get a massive amount of replies from them!!
I offered that if they’d send me their handwriting, I’d send them a font back– free! I still needed lots of practice. I got tons of handwriting samples from them and the fonts were turning out SO cute, I just couldn’t keep them for myself! I had to share them with the other members, who called themselves “The Peas”. So I threw them up on my webpage under the name Fonts for Peas, because that’s what they were– handwriting fonts from the Peas and for them to download and share amongst themselves.
But as you can imagine, word spread and the site go popular– fast!
After 400+ fonts between the Fonts for Peas and the Free Scrapbook Fonts, I probably don’t need the practice anymore, but I just can’t resist still offering to make free fonts. I think, what if there’s someone out there with REALLY REALLY REALLY cute handwriting that just NEEDS to be made into a font and they can’t afford it??? Maybe they’ll find my site and I’ll be lucky enough to make their font for them.

Amanda,
When you post new fonts, do we have to download them individually or do you (graciously) bundle the new ones so that we can download the new group?
Thanks again for being so willing to share these with us!
Jennifer
Wednesday, 12. November 2008 at 4:47:11 pm
Jennifer,
I probably should bundle just the new ones!
Right now they’re just all bundled together, but here’s what you can do… Click the “Download All” button (at the bottom of the sidebar) and when it downloads, sort the fonts by date. The newest fonts will have the newest date. Then you can just delete the other fonts.

Amanda,
I absolutely ADORE your fonts!!! You are so so generous letting anyone download them! I use them in my digital scrapbooking and I send people to your site all the time. I love Fonts for Peas, I love it all! One day I may send you my handwritting
Thanks again!

i downloaded all the fonts.
but whenever i try to extract the folder it says “there is already a file with the same name as the folder name you specified. specify a different name”
i moved the folder to my documents and it still said the same thing.
=/
hope you can help me out.
by the way, they are getting downloaded onto a windows vista home premium
Saturday, 22. November 2008 at 9:58:28 pm
This is a common Windows Vista error – not only with the pea fonts, but with ALL zip files.
This happened to me with another zip file I was trying to open. I just hit “Skip” and it worked fine– all the files unzipped correctly.

Amanda,
To echo the thoughts of your other users, your fonts are AMAZING! You are so generous to share these, they are wonderful. I’m going to send all my friends here, I’m sure they will fall in love with your fonts as I have.
THANKS!!

do you use FontCreator pro or home edition? I am a font junkie (and love your fonts) but I’m really intrigued by the idea of trying to make some fonts. Thanks! –b

Amanda,
I love your fonts! I use your fonts from your site more than any other ones, and your “Fonts for Peas” idea is very cute. It’s nice to see handwriting turned into fonts.
Keep it up!
I was wondering, what font did you use for this – http://www.kevinandamanda.com/scrapbook/fonts/download-and-install/title.gif ? I’ve looked at all of your fonts and I can’t seem to find it on any other site either. If you could tell me where to get it, I’d be very grateful!

Hi Amanda!
I’ve loved the Pea Fonts, ever since I ran across them a few years ago. I just have a concern.. I guess, I ran across a Pea font, on another font website, the person claims it’s her handwriting font. I wasn’t sure if it was allowed, since I haven’t ever seen these fonts outside of this website. If you need anymore information, feel free to email me.

Hello!
Thank you for creating these gorgeous fonts. I just thought I’d let you know that I’ve used your ‘Pea Mariella’ font on my new blog http://victorialouise.co.uk.
I’ve also added a link back to you on my links page http://victorialouise.co.uk/links

I need to email a font to another computer. I have windows vista and can not figure out how to do it with this OS. I saw our tutorial on installing new fonts and thought maybe you would know how to do this too! Prior to vista I was able to copy a font, paste it to another folder, and then attach it to an email. Now, it looks like it lets me copy it but will not let me paste it anywhere. Is this down your alley at all?
thanks!

I plan on writing my fourth cookbook this summer. The first two I hand wrote. (Architectural type lettering.) My third I used the computer. Everyone complained that they missed my handlettering. About how long does it take you to process the font? I hope to get started “writing” this June.

Is there a way that I can download all of these cute fonts at one time rather than doing it one by one. It’s very time consuming to do it that way, so I was just wondering. Thanks so much!
Monday, 2. February 2009 at 3:53:31 pm
Dani,
There is a “Download All” button in the sidebar.

Amanda,
I LoVe all your fonts!! I didn’t see any terms or conditions for the use of your fonts, so I am wondering if I would be able to use them for business use (for designed printed cards, brochures, business cards..etc). How about on my logo? I want to make sure I get your permission before I do anything.
Kind Regards,

Hi-
Can I just re-clarify what I think I read? I can use your fonts in blog designs and announcements, etc, as long as I send it to you? Do you have a suggested way for me to note that I used your font because I have tons of fonts; but I just found yours and I would love to be able to use them.
Thanks,
Krystyn

Hi-
I found your website the other day while sitting in the airport for 6 hours. I was so excited and the time started flying bye. So I have to tell you ThAnk YoU!!! I know you said you didn’t answer technical questions, but I read you do have a Mac so I was hoping you might know the answer. I have a MacBook and I can download everything fine to font book, but I have a Microsoft Word program thats made for the Mac. I have tried and tried to figure out how to download the fonts so I can use them in Word. The very first font I downloaded from your site shows up in Microsoft Word for Macs, but then I found that wonderful button you created to “download all”, and now I cannot get them to work in the Word program. I’m past baffled on trying to figure it out. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you so much for sharing all of these cute fonts.
Monday, 16. March 2009 at 3:46:37 pm
I’m fairly puzzled, I downloaded and installed your other fonts without a hitch but the Peas fonts don’t appear to be there for me. I’ll poke around some more, or maybe just try later. Thanx again!
Wednesday, 18. March 2009 at 8:31:36 am
As many of the people I also love your fonts, my question is, if you have to many fonts installed this will slow your computer down, do you use an external device to hold your pictures and fonts?
Wednesday, 18. March 2009 at 2:33:08 pm
Teri, I have heard that it can. I have always used Font Organizers to manage/organize all my fonts and install/uninstall them on an as-needed basis. On Windows I used The Font Thing and on Mac I use Linotype Font Explorer X. Hope this helps!
Monday, 23. March 2009 at 9:03:10 pm
How will I know if you received my font request?

Hi,
I strolled along your website and I just wanted to say your step-by-step instructions for downloading fonts onto a computer was extremely simple and helpful. Additionally, your fonts are excellent and very whimsical, and I helped myself to downloading all of them for my personal use. Your Creamy Chicken & Dumpling Recipe sounds delish and I hope you don’t mind me taking the recipe and trying it out!
What a great and wonderful website. Keep up the great work you two!
Sincerely,

First, thank you so much for all the wonderful free fonts! I love your blog and I am so excited about the new tutorial for blogger! Anyway, I have two questions..first, I am trying to make my signature for blogger in photoshop CS3 using the Pea Bonnie Script font. How do you use the heart symbol?! I cant figure it out. The other question is, I am trying to use the tutorial (fonts for blogger titles) for my family blog and it has a white box behind the titles, my craft blog has a white background so you cant see it there. But how do I get rid of it so I can use it on my family blog? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi. I’ve only just come across your site and it’s so cool. I would love to create some fonts, I was wondering if you did any tutorials?
Thanks. MM

Hi Amanda,
My younger sister suggested we take a look at your website to get font ideas for the font in our new business logo. We really like the Pea Aimee and are interested in using it in our logo design (along with a little picture of something, but we don’t know yet). Also, we’d like to use the text to write words across our product photos in brochures and in other promotional/marketing places, like our website and business cards. I don’t want to do anything without your permission, so please let me know if we have your permission to use it. Your fonts are very creative and it’s refreshing to see them.
Thanks,
Erica

Hi Amanda,
I know that your site pretty much only has scrap-booking fonts and fun, fancy handwriting ones. But I was wondering if you could do a font or get the font, The Sans Basic 9 Black. I love that font, but in order to get it, I would have to purchase it for $50.00 and I do not want to do that, haha. If you can do something about it, I’d appreciate it! Thanks. I love your site, btw.
Saturday, 16. May 2009 at 5:00:19 pm
hi amanda!
Thanks for a great site – and many amazing fonts!
But, being a Norwegian I’m always looking for fonts with Scandianvian letters since I most of the time write in Norwegian. Do any of your fonts have this?
Thursday, 21. May 2009 at 12:08:21 pm
wow…you are so super sweet to offer this AWESOME gift. I’m totally the person who have always wanted my own handwriting font and found websites but couldn’t afford it! Thanks a million. I’m going to work on submitting one soon.

Amanda,
I’ve done everything the instructions said to do to download the font that I want, but whenever i try to install it, a box comes up that says “The font is already being used and cannot be replaced. Wait until Windows is finished using the file and then try again.” I’m not quite sure what that means, but I’m hoping you do. Can you please help me?
Thursday, 4. June 2009 at 4:51:14 am
Hello Amanda,
I am writing to ask your permission if I can use one of your fonts in my business card? Could you pls let me know as soon as possible?

I adore you fonts! I was wondering if you happened to have a document with what all the characters look like for every font. Especially for the doodle fonts; I’d love to have a binder with all the possibilities that I could refer to when I’m trying to decide what font to use. Thanks for all you do!!!
Monday, 15. June 2009 at 10:58:04 am

Thank you!

What a great site! I totally agree with everyone and all of their comments. So cute, and so generous to share! You hear it all the time, but you deserve all of the praise!
So…I have tried to get the fonts to work on my blog multiple times, even trying two different computers, but I still can’t get them to show up! I followed the directions on the tutorial, and the steps seemed to go smoothly and seemed simple enough, but when I put it into my HTML and save it, nothing shows! Everyone else seems to be able to do it no problem…so I’m not even sure what I’m doing wrong, but I love your fonts and would love to use them. Can you help me out at all?!? =)
Thanks a million!

Why does my blog loads and shows the blogspot default template before it displays the fonts that I chose from your site? Is there anything I can do to correct it? Thanks!
Wednesday, 29. July 2009 at 11:31:46 pm
Hi, I hope you can help me, I pretty sure I got a font from your generous collection called “Annoying Kettle” when I suggested to a digiscrapbook designer that font for a project she couldn’t find it here and now looking into it on my “The Font Thing” software it says it’s maker is simply “www.geocities.com/freescrapbookfonts1″ that website no longer exists according to Yahoo! and some research online has hinted that your site used to be said site and your site FAQ section refers to a site with a really similar name.
Are/were you freescrapbookfonts1? And if so is “Annoying Kettle” still available? I can’t find it anywhere online, even for purchase. I have it on installed on my computer and I could just send it to her, but I want to do this right and find the “owner” so we’re not violating anyone’s TOU.
Thank you so much!

What is the font you use for the light blue “Fonts for Peas” headline on this page?

I’ve searched for it, but can’t seem to match it to the ones you have.
I love fonts too!! Thanks for making them and allowing us to use them.

Thanks so much for all these cute fonts! Can you tell me what the font is that says “free fonts” in brown with white polka dots at the top of the fonts page? Also, what is the font used on the right side of the Fonts for Peas page giving a description of the Fonts for Peas? Thanks so much!

Amanda,
I just started getting into Digital Scrapbooking and I’m loving it! I’m still learning, but I love your amazing fonts! There are so many and you’re so great to give them for free! I really appreciate it. I was wondering if you have a .PDF or any kind of file with a list of all your fonts by name in their particular font? Does that make sense? This way I can look over them all and quickly decide which font I want to use instead of scrolling through each font slowly deciding which one to use. Let me know when you can. Thanks again!

Hey amanda, i was wondering if you could make a less bold version of Pea Katie Shea? I absolutely love that font, the only thing I don’t like is how bold it is. So if you have time could you make a “less bold” version of pea katie shea? THANK YOU SO MUCH

Hi Amanda!
I just wanted to let you know that I shared your website URL (for the Scrapbooking Fonts page) with my CraftClass group on YahooGroups, along with the zip file for your New Doodles font.
You may get lots of hits and downloads from the mention, so I wanted to let you know that I recommended you. I love your work!

First of all, thank you so much for your amazing fonts. You’re so talented.
Secondly, what font did you use for the title of Pea Aimee’s Doodles? And for the bottom of this page in turquoise and brown?

Hey Amanda, I really love your website and all of the fonts that you make. I love having cute fonts around and availabe to use and you make it so easy for us. Thank you. I feel bad asking because I know you are busy and if I ws giving out free fonts and gettig bugged all of the time it would get really old, BUT, I downlaoded your fonts and your peas fonts and they work great on photoshop until I close down the program or my computer and then all the peas fonts are gone again. Weird right? Well i was just wondering if you have heard of this or had any advice. I know you re busy, so sorry to take up your time. I was just wondering. Thanks again for the beautful fonts. You are awesome.

I am a complete disaster when it comes to adding fun stuff to my blog. Do you by chance offer a service to change the fonts on someone’s blog for a fee? I could really use the help!

I am so glad I stumbled upon your website! I know it’s already been said by so many others, but I wanted to thank you for providing beautiful, fun and free fonts!
(
I live in Spain and type in Spanish a lot. I am wondering if you have any handwriting fonts that contain these foreign characters: Á á É é Í í Ó ó Ú ú Ü ü Ñ ñ ¿ ? ¡ and !
I wanted to use Pea Anderson on a summary sheet I give to my students at the end of each month, but the foreign characters do not appear
Please let me know ASAP…of course I’m keeping in mind the fact that you get a ton of questions and emails every day.
Thanks,
Katka

So happy I stumbled upon your website its so cool.
I submited my handwriting and a few doodles yesterday and was just wondering how long it will take before I (hopefully??) see it made into a font?
If not there are so many to choose from here.
Thanks

Amanda~
I would like to use your fonts for cards that I make to sell. I am more than willing to give you credit for your hard work. Since I am not doing digital work, I was wondering how you would like me to credit you. I have already put your website on the back of the card with the name of the font, but I was wondering if I needed to buy the rights to use it commercially?
Thank you,
Lyndsey Neita

I just uploaded my finace and my handwriting to you to make into fonts and I’m so excited. Thank you so much for having such a service available. I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I have been so obsessed with my handwriting since I was little, always trying to improve it and make it neater and prettier, it’s nice to know there are others out there that are like that!
Thanks again!

Hi Amanda–
Let me start out with how much I love your site and especially the fonts. I am the Executive Director for a non-profit, and one of my greatest joys (seriously, I love it) is designing our quarterly newsletters. We don’t make any money off of it–just a way to reach our members and let them know what is going on. May I use your fonts in our newsletter in order to make them stand out? I think your fonts would certainly give our newsletter a little something extra. Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you so much!!!!

Would you consider telling us how or what the procedure of making a font is? I have tried and tried to figure it out and haven’t had any luck. Or maybe the correct wording to google? I would love to try and make some myself and I would be happy to forward them on to you to use and share on your website. I adore your site! Thanks for all your hard work.

I’m trying to download your fonts and it is not working. I just downloaded some of becky higgins free fonts and it worked just fine. I noticed that hers were fontname.ttf where yours are showing up fontname.zip. I’m guessing this is the problem… Any idea how I can fix this? And if it helps think I have windows 2000. And I just tried to install it and a pop up box says Unable to install the font. File “…\freescrapbookfonts.zip” is either invalid or damaged.

Hi Amanda,
I am downloading one of your fonts and I finally got it to work, but the problem I am having is that the date and sidebar title won’t change it’s size and color. I have been over it until I’m not sure what I am looking at anymore. Can you tell me what I might have done wrong? I have checked all the codes and everything looks to be in place, but like I said I might not be seeing what I should be looking for. I would really love your help. I am excited to have these new fonts.
Thanks
Mindy
